The Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) goal is to keep our skies safe.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) mandates companies to provide a FAA drug & alcohol testing program for the following safety sensitive employees.

  • Ground Security Coordinators

  • Aviation Screening Duties

  • Air Traffic Control Duties

  • Aircraft Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance (mechanics, quality control inspectors and technical specialists, maintenance controllers and quality assurance auditors)

  • Management staff required to perform regulated functions

DOT regulations require employers to provide a safe and healthy workplace for its employees and the general public. Employers in the aircraft industry are required to comply with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) federal regulations 49 CFR part 40 and 14 CFR part 121 for their company mandated FAA drug and alcohol testing program.

The FAA program requires the following types of testing for Drug and Breath Alcohol:

  • Pre-employment Testing

  • Random Testing

  • Post-Accident Testing

Each Test screens for an FAA employee tests for the following drugs:

  • Marijuana

  • Opiates

  • Cocaine

  • Flight Crew Members

  • Flight Attendants

  • Flight Instructors

  • Aircraft Dispatchers

  • Reasonable Suspicion Testing

  • Return-To- Duty Testing

  • Follow-up Testing

  • Amphetamines (Including MDMA & Ecstasy)

  • PCP

All DOT/FAA Drug tests are screened at a SAMHSA approved laboratory.
